The More You

KNOW

We wanted to allocate a space to inform you on the potential dangers of other candle companies and how we provide safer alternatives.

Fragrances

Many other candle companies use fragrances that contain known toxins, phthalates, carcinogens and parabens that are linked with numerous damaging health effects.

Phthalates are harmful chemicals that are used (unnecessarily) as a carrier to help candle fragrances linger. When other candles burn, phthalates are released into the air where they may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Once they enter the bloodstream they can aggravate allergy and asthma symptoms in some people. They have also been found to alter hormone levels and known to cause birth defects and fertility problems.

In addition to phthalates, other candles may also release other toxic chemicals that are suspected or known human carcinogens (cancer causing agents), including formaldehyde.

Last, but not least, they may contain parabens which are preservatives that can penetrate the skin and act as a very weak estrogen in the body, potentially turning on the growth of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancers.

The good news is, you don't have to worry about any of these scary hazards with our products. Our candles are free of toxins, phlalates, carcinogens, and parabens. We help to minimize the risks posed by competitors by using top-quality, CLEAN-BURNING ingredients in our products.

Wax Blend

Many candle companies use paraffin wax blends, which is a petroleum waste product that has been chemically bleached and is not clean burning, nor biodegradable. Paraffin, when burned, creates highly toxic benzene which is linked to developmental and reproductive toxicity. It also creates toluene which affects the central nervous system causing headaches and dizziness. The petro-soot released from paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fumes and can be as dangerous as second hand smoke.

Soy wax blends have gained popularity due to their "natural" qualities however, soy wax often contains heavy pesticide and fertilizer additives due to soybean oil being a byproduct of the huge soybean industry led by agricultural giant, Bayer.

Our candle wax is made with a high quality blend of natural coconut and apricot oil, so we can ensure you don't have to worry about the risks posed by paraffin or soy wax when using our candles.

Wicks

Many companies use cotton wicks which poses threats not only to you, but to the environment as well.

Cotton wicks can be laced with metals such as zinc that then release toxins into the atmosphere and into your lungs. Cotton wicks can also be dipped in paraffin to make them easier to light, which releases carcinogens into the air you breathe as well as excess damaging soot that coats the walls of your space.

We use wooden wicks made from sappy fruit trees in our candles which are natural and non-toxic, as they are not treated with anything to help them stay lit which reduces the amount of soot going into your home or space, ensuring a cleaner burn for both you and your space. Our wooden wicks are not typical, as we use whisper wicks that have a much more quiet demeanor than the familiar noisy cracking wooden wicks.

Wooden wicks are also organic and eco-friendly, being much more sustainable than cotton wicks. Thousands of wicks can be attained from a single tree and without anywhere near the number of resources that are needed to produce cotton wicks. We solely use FSC Certified Wood for our wicks which is considered the "gold standard" designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.
